LA EXCELENCIA is an award-winning salsa band from New York City, celebrated for blending the raw spirit of 70s-era salsa with a bold, modern, and unapologetic sound. Founded in 2005 by composer and producer Julian Silva, the group emerged as a powerful voice in contemporary Latin music, gaining early recognition with their socially conscious debut album Salsa Con Conciencia (2006). Their explosive, high-energy performances and signature “salsa dura” style quickly set them apart, building a loyal international following and leading to a series of acclaimed releases including Mi Tumbao Social (2009), Ecos Del Barrio (2012), and Machete (2020).

Beyond the stage, LA EXCELENCIA’s influence resonates across film, television, and media. Their music has appeared in major motion pictures, popular TV shows, and prominent compilations, with placements and collaborations spanning MTV, A&E, Lifetime, and more. Their work has been recognized in major publications such as The New York Times, and in 2024 the band marked a new career milestone with a celebrated performance at the iconic Carnegie Hall—an achievement that further solidified their reputation as one of the most dynamic salsa ensembles of their generation.

Now entering their third decade, LA EXCELENCIA continues to evolve. The band is currently recording their highly anticipated 20th anniversary album with multi–Grammy Award–winning producer JC Ospina (“Mr. Sonic”), promising a fresh, powerful chapter in their musical legacy. In 2026, they will embark on an expansive 20th anniversary world tour, bringing their unmistakable sound to audiences across the globe.
